TEHRAN (IQNA) – The secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) welcomed a recent legislation passed by Kuwait’s parliament on boycotting Israel and banning any relations with the Tel Aviv regime.

Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari, in a letter to Kuwait’s Parliament Speaker Marzouq Ali Mohammed Al-Ghanim, thanked the Arab country’s parliament for passing the law, describing it as a source of honor for the Muslim world and all those standing up for the rights of the Palestinian nation.

He said the law means support for resistance fighters in occupied territories and rejection of Zionist aggressions on al-Quds and the Palestinian people.

Hojat-ol-Islam Shahriari added that the move should serve as a role model for parliaments of other Muslim countries.

Kuwait’s National Assembly strongly condemned the latest Israeli military’s acts of aggression against Palestinians across the occupied West Bank and East al-Quds besides its bloody military onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip, and unanimously approved legislations that outlaw any deals or normalization of ties with the Tel Aviv regime.

During a special parliamentary session held on Thursday to discuss the latest Israeli attacks in Palestinian territories, Kuwaiti legislators expressed their country’s strong position towards the Palestinian cause, as well as its unswerving support and solidarity with the Palestinian nation until they establish an independent sovereign state with East al-Quds as its capital.

“Today, the Kuwaiti parliament held a special session to emphasize the popular and official position of Kuwait on its main issue, which is the issue of Palestine,” Ghanim read out a statement issued at the end of the meeting.

The statement also expressed the assembly’s strong condemnation of the latest Israeli offensive on the impoverished Gaza Strip, and vicious attacks against Palestinians in al-Quds, the occupied West Bank and other Palestinian territories occupied since 1948.

On Friday, the parliament of Kuwait passed a bill stipulating jail and hefty fines for anyone who deals with Israel.

The draft bill in this regard was submitted last week by five Kuwaiti MPs.

The bill, submitted by MPs Adnan Abdulsamad, Hisham Al Saleh, Ali Al Qattan, Ahmad Al Hamad and Khalil Al Saleh, sought a ban on any dealings or normalization with Israel.

The draft bill also sought a ban on any direct or indirect contacts with Israel and also a ban on any Kuwaiti or expat residing in the country from visiting Israel.

The bill also sought to ban any expression of sympathy with Israel.
